Dr. Amy Ehlers is Senior Vice President of Clinical Services at Nufactor Specialty Pharmacy, bringing over 25 years of pharmacy experience, with the majority spent in specialty pharmacy leadership. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Ohio Northern University and a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Florida. Dr. Ehlers is an Immunoglobulin Certified Pharmacist (IgCP) and Certified Specialty Pharmacist (CSP), and serves as a Certified Director on the Specialty Pharmacy Certification Board. Amy is a member of Immunoglobulin National Society (IgNS) and National Association of Specialty Pharmacy (NASP) and has delivered continuing education programs on immune globulin therapy and specialty pharmacy practice.

Historically, the pharmacist’s role in healthcare has been limited to filling and dispensing drugs based on a prescription, and ensuring that these medications were accurately delivered to patients. Today, this is no longer true. As the healthcare system has grown and evolved, so has the role and responsibility of the pharmacist. It is now expected that “pharmacists establish relationships with patients to ensure the appropriateness of medication therapy, patients’ understanding of their therapy, and to monitor the effects of that therapy.”
